“Go back to where you came from” – except she is where she came from.
He didn’t come here. His grandfather was born here.
He didn’t take anyone’s land, didn’t wipe out the native people.
You are the guest.
It was your ancestors who sailed in, burned, killed, and declared this their home.
And who were those ancestors?
They fled poverty, hunger, wars.
They weren’t any kind of elite –
They were nobodies.
They arrived in the new world with one sack on their back and a dream that maybe, finally, someone wouldn’t treat them like trash.
And now – their grandchildren, who think the world owes them everything –
have the audacity to tell others they “don’t belong.”
America has maybe 200 years of history.
And 200 years of thinking it’s the center of the universe.
While other civilizations had millennia of culture, philosophy, architecture, and art,
You were still living in tents, fighting over whiskey and gold.
So maybe keep it down a bit when you feel like lecturing others on where they should be from.
But even if someone wasn’t born here – so what?
If someone chose this country, works here, pays taxes, learns the language and brings value –
They have the right to be here.
You don’t need to be born on land to respect it.
You don’t need a passport to love this place more than some local parasite ever could.
So shut your mouth before you say, “go back to where you came from.”
Because Asians are still, to many, “that lesser race” – mocked, pushed aside, dehumanized.
Whether we’re talking about the US, Europe, or Australia – they’re treated the same way:
As if they were temporary. Foreign. An exotic extra.
Chinese, Korean, Japanese,Vietnamese ? Doesn’t matter.
To many, “they all look the same.”
No one asks where you’re from. Everyone already “knows”:
“Made in China.”
And that’s supposed to mean you’re cheaper. Lower. Worth less.
Asians are reduced to roles like cooks, masseurs, cleaners.
As if that’s the only place they deserve in society.
But the moment they get higher positions, build businesses, speak better English than you –
Suddenly, they’re a threat.
Suddenly, they need to be reminded of their place.
But it’s Asians who are often the best in science, engineering, medicine, IT.
There’s a reason that meme from math competitions exists:
“Team China” – all Asians.
“Team USA” – also all Asians.
And only those standing off to the side feel threatened. So they yell:
– “Go back home.”
– “Eat your dogs somewhere else.”
– “You don’t belong here.”
And I ask:
Where exactly should someone return to, if they chose this country as their own?
Where should someone go, if this is the only language they know, they live here, work here, pay taxes here?
And most importantly – where should you go?
Because your ancestors came from somewhere else too.
And maybe you’re the temporary one.
Maybe you’re the guest on someone else’s land – just been sitting too long to notice.
And no, it’s not just the States.
Europe isn’t any better.
Same look, same patronizing tone, same contempt hiding behind a smile.
An Asian is supposed to cook, clean, stay quiet, and be grateful for being let in.
But don’t forget – they don’t owe anyone a bow.
It’s the world that should’ve bowed to them long ago.
