History Is Written by the Liars Who Won

Always the same.
War, conflict, coup, change of power – and suddenly everything that was before ceases to exist.
Because the winners write history.
Not because they’re right. Just because they can.

Burn the old monuments. Build new ones.
Print new textbooks. Change the names in the chronicles. Erase the photos, add new ones.
Someone once existed, and now – no longer.
They’re gone. They never were.
And that’s not Orwell – that’s daily life.

Truth?
It doesn’t matter.
Because if no one has access to it, it might as well have never existed.
Truth doesn’t count in textbooks. What counts is control over the narrative.

And those who control the narrative can make you believe anything:
– that they were victims, though they killed,
– that they didn’t know, though they planned,
– that they always fought for freedom, though they trampled it daily.

It works because most people don’t want to know the truth.
They want the version that suits them.
Safe, patriotic, polished.
With anthems and heroes from Photoshop.

And those who try to say otherwise?
Traitors. Enemies of the people. Agents of foreign influence.
At best – YouTube nutjobs.
At worst – they disappear.

So don’t ask whether history is true.
Ask who holds the pen.
And whether they’re writing a version that helps them stay in power.

Because history is not memory.
It’s a political tool.
Written for effect. For future generations.
For an alibi.

Winners don’t look for truth.
Winners look for the version where they were on the right side.

And that’s why the defeated die twice:
once – on the battlefield,
a second time – in the textbooks.
